Balance

Inequity. The universe must have a certain amount of gravity to keep it together; a cutting torch must have the right mix of gasses to work properly; an airfoil must have more air flowing underneath than over the top in order to fly, and a relationship must have a bit more give than take to be successful. All these things work because of laws that the Creator has set in motion. They are useful because they follow the rules. They have one body countering another body. They have balance. In the human sphere of things, it is considered a high compliment if someone says that you are a very well balanced individual. And rightfully so!

Pondering these facts the other day, however, I sensed that there was another law in the universe that is incongruent with this kind of worldly balance. It is the Lex Generalis de Dios: curtain things in our world that will only work one way according to our Creator.

Here are some of my thoughts on these things:

Only those who have truly tasted of the depths of God can truly love Him. At the same, they too, are the only ones who can hurt Him.

Only those who recognize their imperfection can understand God, because only then can you accept the fact that HE is perfect.

Only those who have drunk from the well of goodness can experience the fear of the Lord.

Only those who have been hurt can honestly comprehend forgiveness.

Only those who have been to the bottom of life can look out from the top and realize that God likes broken men.

Only vulnerable, connected people can truly experience intimacy.

Only a real man can refuse a seductress with a genuine concern for her salvation.

Only a fool will ruin reputations, sling mud and trample the simple, then look you in the eye and say, “God told me to do it.”

Only a spiritually omnivorous Pharisee will fill his head with useless religious clamjamfry; then take it upon himself to spread it around.

Only a fool will drink wine from the King’ table, wipe his mouth, then drink from a toilet.

Only the falsely humble will demean themselves in front of others.

Only the falsely proud will spew their own praise in public.

Some other truths I have found.

Love is trust, trust is life and love is Jesus.

Hate is murder, murder is sin and sin is death.

Truth is vital, peace a blessing and temperance essential.

Souls are eternal, I am replaceable and shuteth up.

And now for the real truth:

Only I can turn too sharp with my trailer, wipe out a fuel pump and blame it on spiritual warfare.
